Polystyrene GPPS
Low-impact polystyrene
GPPS polystyrene is a polymer obtained in the process of styrene polymerization. Polystyrene has good transparency, gloss and thermal resistance. GPPS products demonstrate high rigidity. Pure polystyrene is colourless (transparent), hard, brittle, with very limited flexibility. Low impact polystyrene can be processed by injection moulding (e.g. cosmetic packaging), film extrusion and thermoforming. The main applications in which GPPS is used are: CD boxes, toys, cups, medical and office supplies.

Polystyrene HIPS
High impact polystyrene
HIPS polystyrene, due to the content of polybutadiene has elastic properties (it is more resistant to cracking than GPPS). In addition, the addition of polybutadiene reduces rigidity, loss of transparency and a significant reduction in gloss while increasing tensile strength. Due to the properties described above, HIPS is used for: film extrusion which is often then thermoformed in the next step (packaging, interiors of refrigerators) construction, general merchandise, etc. Processing methods: injection moulding.

EPS
Expandable polystyrene
EPS is in the form of pearls, contains pentane thanks to which it undergoes foaming (expand in volume) in the presence of water vapor to form expanded polystyrene balls. It is offered in white and grey in various granulations, in flammable and self-extinguishing versions. Due to its properties, EPS is widely used in thermal insulation for the production of insulation boards, fittings and packaging.

SBC
Styrene-butadiene copolymer
SBC is a hard, thermoplastic material, the product of the copolymerisation of styrene and butadiene. Products obtained from SBC are transparent and at the same time impact-resistant. SBC can be used alone, e.g. for injection moulding of products such as transparent hangers, toys, and in combination with GPPS, thus improving the impact strength of parts while maintaining transparency. Main applications: extrusion and thermoforming of packaging, containers, trays, etc.
